Top 20 Games Like Skyrim You Must Try!

There are hundreds of video games available on the internet, Skyrim is of the best video games out of them, therefore today we will list out to 20 games like Skyrim that you must try.

1. Gothic series

Release : 2001/2002/ 2006/ 2010

(Games Like Skyrim)

The games in the Gothic series are great, from the first Gothic game released in 2001 to the last spin-off released in 2010 called ArcaniA – these open-world RPGs have compelling storylines, original worlds, and gameplay that will keep you in your tracks. chair better than anything. Right now, you can download various graphics enhancement mods to keep it looking new.

So if you’ve played all the good old games and never heard the news, what I’m about to show you now is that you might think it’s definitely not the good old games, no matter how many graphics enhancement mods you’re going to install. Well, that’s true in a way, because a goth remake is taking place. THQ Nordic has confirmed their intention to do a full gothic remake after the recently released playable teaser became popular. If you have a Gothic or  Piranha Bytes game on Steam in general, you can try this demo version of  Gothic yourself for free.

2. Dragon age series

Release : 2009/ 2011/2014/2022

(Games Like Skyrim)

These just like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Mass Effect games were developed by the team at Bioware, so you can expect it to have a similar. In Skyrim, we usually went to the dungeons alone or maybe took modern companions together, but here your party members are as strong as you are. That might be a thing that repulses many loners, but this setting of a fantasy world filled with dangers, dungeons, and dragons is very similar to the Elder Scrolls games.

There are currently three games available, some of which are more loved than others, but from one perspective they are all great and more or less interesting. Dragon age 4 is in the making right now, but it won’t be available for masses at least until the late-year 2022.

3. Greed fall

Release: 2019

Windows, PS4, Xbox one

(Games Like Skyrim)

Greedfall, explore new unexplored lands as you set foot on a remote island full of magic,  riches, lost secrets, and fantastic creatures. Here you can complete missions and objectives in various ways through combat, diplomacy, deception, or even stealth.

You also have total freedom in character development, customize your appearance, freely choose your abilities, spells, and abilities and play as a man or a woman.

Although most people think this game is good, I must mention that Greedfall is very brave, you can also feel the lack of diversity of opponents and it has terrible facial animation. It feels like they’re made of rubber and someone is just pulling the strings to make them smile or open their mouths. While that’s not the worst stuff they can be made of when you think about it, this game is still an 8 out of 10 in my opinion, but it’s definitely not a masterpiece.

4. Middle Earth: Shadow of War & shadow of Mordor

Release: 2014/2017

(Games Like Skyrim)

The best part about playing Middle Earth games is that you can feel overwhelmed without sacrificing fear of defeat. The games have great fluid battles and a huge epic-looking open world filled with The Lord of the Rings to find, but what’s special about it is what happens behind the scenes: an intriguing hierarchy of enemies that guide each victory and all the that Defeat makes more sense. I’m talking about an extraordinary nemesis system that turns almost every encounter with a named enemy into a memorable battle.

Imagine the next time you make a potato salad, you give each individual potato a name before cutting it, the end result will definitely taste better. The hobbits would agree. Anyway, in the game, you can use direct ranged melee attacks, stealth moves, and even enemies on each other. And you can also collect orcs and send them into battles. Yes, just don’t get too attached to them, they often die even when their opponent is weaker.

You can probably find a mod or two that fixes this problem though.

5. Isles of Adalar

Release: 2020 August

Windows

(Games Like Skyrim)

Isles of Adalar is an open-world fantasy RPG that can be played in the first or third person. In fact, this game reminded me a lot of Morrowind. In my opinion, one of the most important things about the Elder Scrolls universe is that you can collect items from the world and then put them in your inventory.

It is a standalone game so don’t expect Triple-A quality as you would never expect Moonshine bought from a seedy retailer to be as good as Swedish or Lithuanian vodka. You can try playing the demo version, you can find it on Steam and it’s pretty good in my opinion. Well, he had a lot of problems, like a terrible field of vision. You can always feel that something is wrong no matter how you configure it.

It seems that a virtual reality game was made to stop being virtual reality. Let’s hope something really cool hatches and one day crawls out of this ugly duckling.

6. Fallout New Vegas

Release: 2010

Windows, PS3, X box 360

(Games Like Skyrim)

Fallout New Vegas, this time it is not a fantasy title but I could not just leave it aside. Many people think that New Vegas is a simple DLC of Fallout 3, but it is a completely different and stand-alone game with, I dare to say, a way better story than Fallout 3 and 4.

Also, I should mention that Fallout New Vegas Remake is in the works right now by a team of fans. When nobody is paying you it is hard to keep focus no matter how passionate you are, especially when it is not your own creation and you are just remaking someone other’s epic work.

7. Horizon series

Part 1: PS4 and Windows (2020 August 7)

Part 2- 2021- PS5

(Games Like Skyrim)

Horizon series,

I say series because soon you will be able to play part 2 of the game on a Playstation 5. Here you will control the girl named alloy and will try to figure out what happened to the world and why there are tons of massive mechanical animals and dinosaurs roaming around.

This is a post-apocalyptic game, meaning that here you will find various ruins and ancient secrets. Although, the game is trying to be good for everyone. Of course, Horizon Zero Dawn is crueler than Breath of the wild, but when you play it, deep down you feel that it could be made better. And the main protagonist is a kind of boring character.

She is like 18 or 19 years old, so basically, every other character in games has more life experience than she does.

8. Divinity II: Developer’s Cut

Release: 2009

Windows, Xbox 360

Windows, PS4, Xbox one

Divinity II: Developer’s Cut, this is where you can climb high and vape anything in your path while strategically using your human and dragon form to defeat the enemy and become the ultimate dragon knight. Developer’s Cut contains the latest edition of Divinity II, valid for over 100 hours of gameplay, as well as  Developer Mode where you can play with any creature. Yes, here you can play the original

version or experience the game as the designers did and play with the console commands.

If you’ve always wanted to put your new skills to the test on a bunch of a hundred goblins, go for it. Have you always wondered what it would be like to explore the game world dressed as a troll or goblin? So, let’s go. Discover a wide range of spectacular developer commands and feel like a real wizard.

The game has very positive reviews on Steam and it still looks great despite its age.

9. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the wild

Release: 2017

Switch, W II  U

(Games Like Skyrim)

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, while it may seem a bit childish to a mature player,  has a huge and unforgettable open world, and when it first appeared, many thought of Skyrim, just a Zelda universe. You can go anywhere your eyes can see, fight tons of monsters, evil spirits, and even some dragons.

Best of all, you can fly. Well, mostly down, but in this world, it feels amazing. It’s fun no matter how old you are. If your kid has a Nintendo Switch, just grab his portable console and then wake up his inner kid and take control of this guy named Zelda.

10. Crimson Desert

Release: 2021

PS4, Xbox One, Windows

(Games Like Skyrim)

Crimson Desert is a very nice open-world game from South Korea. It hasn’t been released yet, but I think it should be on this list. Here you will travel through a vast empire torn by conflict, cold and unfeeling deserts, and breathtaking cities. The game is an open world, but it is also an MMORPG. The game features a historical single-player campaign filled with exciting missions. It seems that the developers are trying to sit in two chairs at the same time and that requires some pretty real skill to do so.

11. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Release: 2012

PS3, Xbox 360, Windows

(Games Like Skyrim)

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, this game has a ridiculous story. You see, the state of Rhode island greenlit an astonishing amount of $75 million dollars to fund the project. The government itself gave the money to the developers and ordered them to make a wonderful game. The game managed to recoup only $ 4.5 million, and as a result, the entire state of Rhode Island was nearly ruined.

About 1 million people live there, so you can imagine that every citizen, every single one of them, lost about 70 dollars from this deal.

Now the game is getting a remastered version. There is nothing specific yet, but Microsoft accidentally listed the game in its store prematurely. It is expected to appear in September this year. When the government asked the developers to make a wonderful game, they delivered it. The game is amazing. Despite being a financial disaster, it is one of the best RPGs ever made.

12. Two worlds 2

Release: 2010

PS3, Windows, Xbox 360, Mac OS

(Games Like Skyrim)

Two worlds 2, the world is ruled by a dark lord who loves to experiment with black magic. He takes power away from your sister’s soul. As he gradually deprives himself of his energy, he grows weaker each day.

Here you will explore many new environments, such as rainforests or hot savannas inhabited by different species of rhinos and ostriches. The game also includes reptiles and many other wild and well-known animals.

By the way, did you notice that in every fantasy game there are a lot of strange or mature creatures, like giant spiders and scorpions, but there are always normal wolves? Yes, wolves are like real life, and everything else is crazy creatures with no relation to reality.

So in two worlds,  just seeing normal ostriches and rhinos and other normal animals in real life makes something feel strange. So you can not only explore the game world on foot but also on horseback or by boat. And teleports can also be used. It has many problems, but none of them are innovative, so try it fearlessly, but don’t expect a masterpiece.

13. Kingdom Come: Deliverance

 Released: 2018

 Windows, PS4, Xbox One

(Games Like Skyrim)

Kingdom Come: Liberation. This is basically a Skyrim, only without dragons, elves, or giants. Kingdom Come: Deliverance offers a very realistic combat system that requires patience and carefully calculated attacks, rather than spinning around like Elder Scrolls veterans are used to.

The game was made with a budget of $ 5 million. It may seem like a lot to casual folks like you and me, but keep in mind that Skyrim’s development cost was roughly $ 100 million. Maybe that’s why you don’t find elves or vampires in Kingdom Come, they only had money to create humans.

14. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Release: 2018

Windows, PS4, Xbox One, Switch

(Games Like Skyrim)

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Of the Assassin’s Creed, Games Odyssey, and maybe  Origins are similar to Skyrim. And in any case, these are very different games from Elder Scrolls, I considered not including them at all, but then decided to add them because I can guarantee that if you like Skyrim there is a great chance that you will like it it Odyssey too.

When you consider the Odyssey to be unrealistic and your enemies include various mythological monsters and beasts from legends, as in the Medusa example, it really does have some fantasy vibes.

This is also where you have weapons with supernatural abilities like increased strength or the ability to instantly remove an opponent’s shield. There are many and if you have not lived under the rock, you will know what Assassin’s Creed games are and how they work.

15. The Witcher Hunt

Release: 2015

Windows, PS4, Xbox one

(Games Like Skyrim)

Three interesting facts about this game are:

a) Card game Gwent, which you can find in witcher, was created in three days, that was a deadline for its creators and they surely delivered.

b) Witcher’s map is 20% bigger than Skyrim’s.

c)  A photo from the development team sits on top of the most distant mountain on the horizon from Toussaint.

16. Bound by Flame

Release: 2014

PS3, Xbox 360, Windows, Linux

(Games Like Skyrim)

In the clutches of a demon, you must choose between the demon within you and your humanity. If you choose the latter, you will have to defend yourself from the influence of the demon and develop truly heroic abilities.

When dangers and enemies approach you,  more and more terrifying and terrifying, you will be tempted to give a little more of your soul to the demon to gain more power, and when the demon gains more of your soul, your body, transformation becomes more Sure.

Depending on your decisions and your relationship with a demon, the chapters offer different experiences, missions, and scenarios. The real-time battles are dynamic and quite impressive; If you start your adventure by mastering the basics of combat, assassination, and finally fire magic, then you can specialize by unlocking and upgrading many skills that you will use in each of the three talents trees.

The title has some annoying bugs and some pretty terrible voice acting, but overall it’s a normal game to try.

17. Outward

 Released: 2019

 PS4, Xbox One, Windows, Linux

(Games Like Skyrim)

This is an open-world RPG in which the cold of the night or an infected wound can be as dangerous as a predator lurking in the dark.

You can play alone or in cooperative mode, even a split-screen is possible. A split-screen for non-racing, non-shooting gameplay. Although you need a friend to do this, this game will give you a sense of adventure and will not lead you hand in hand with a linear story. Although not everything is good movement and combat feel a bit clunky, voice acting could be better and character customization is very limited.

Anyway, it is a nice game, hunt it on a sale.

18. RISEN series

Release: 2009/2021/2014

(Games Like Skyrim)

Risen series, the same developer as Gothic, similar gameplay, but a little less love from players.

The first game has the best reviews and the third one even has a  bit of hate because it really has a bit boring story and a bit watered-down gameplay that matches the bad animations and graphics. for Xbox and PS3. But to be fair, even the Elder Scrolls Oblivion used to get in trouble because of that and is now considered a masterpiece.

So it’s probably better to decide for yourself if you like games or not. Add them to your wish list, wait for a sale, and give it a try.

19. Mount and Blade II: Banner lord

Release: 2020

Xbox One, Windows, PS4

(Games Like Skyrim)

Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord, explore, attack, and conquer your way across the vast continent of Caldaria, meeting friends and foes in the process. Build your own army and take them into battle, command and fight alongside your troops in the middle of the action.

Remember the battles between Imperials and Stormcoats, here’s another way to do it. So kill your enemies with the game’s deep and intuitive combat system that is easy to learn but hard to master.

Anyway, keep in mind that Bannerlord is in early access so it may be a bug, a glitch, and not finished yet. Even so, the game is the proud owner of very positive reviews on Steam.

The most interesting thing about Skyrim is the DLC called Apotheosis. It’s a fan-made project, but don’t be fooled, it’s made by true professionals in their field. Apotheosis takes place in 16 badlands of Oblivion and  Dreamsleeve, home of the forgotten dead. Awakened after years of sleep, you must rebuild Lorkhan’s heart, survive terrifying horrors, and uncover untold stories. Here you will meet unique bosses with challenging mechanics, fully voiced missions with unforgettable characters, and personal stories.

You will also discover and assemble rare and powerful art objects,

armor, outfits, and weapons. Mod has yet to be released and we may have to wait, but it’s obviously something great and really majestic.

20. MIGHR & MAGIC series

VI – 1998 | VII – 1999

VIII – 2000 | X – 2014

(Games Like Skyrim)

Might & Magic series, if you like old-school games, I am totally recommending you to try Might & Magic 6, 7, and 8, because earlier games are so old, they are not even created for windows and are just dungeon crawlers, not open-world games. All enemies are just 2D sprites because computers back then did not have ultimate power. They were extremely limited and lame.

You had to have 32 Megabytes of RAM to run Might and Magic VI smoothly, the same amount was required for, for example, half-life that was released in the same year, but half-life was not the open world so it could be made better graphics in a smaller environment and PC’s were still able to run it without twitching and melting. If you can live with that, I can promise you that in those games you will find absolutely amazing plot and feeling of adventure. If you are a fan of Heroes of Might and Magic games, here you will find some monsters and characteristics,  which is super cool – at least it was for me. Although, avoid part 9, because it was created fully in 3D and it does not look good.

They had to sacrifice almost all the feeling of open-world because of that, so it even plays not so well. It is a good thing story-wise but everything else is extremely wrong. And you can also check out Might and Magic X,  a fairly new game released in 2014 and driven by nostalgia, but it’s more of an old-school dungeon exploration game than a semi-open world game as it is based on this Might and Magic. Older Magic. – Based on the game.

Conclusion:-

When you think of open-world RPGs the first game that would come to mind is probably Skyrim but you can try all these games listed above which will give you the same amount of adrenaline rush as Skyrim games do. These games have everything from adventures to cool characters to amazing storylines. You can even play all these games with your friends and many of the games listed above are even free of cost to play, therefore it is a fair share to try all these games.
