A serious gamer showed off their huge gaming collection, which includes many old video games and platforms. Not only did the collection stand out because it had copies of old games from older console versions, but it also stood out because it had so many games.
Since people started buying video games decades ago, there have been thousands of games made for the many devices made by companies like Nintendo, PlayStation, and Sega. Over the years, it’s no surprise that a lot of gamers have started their own collections of gaming-related things, and some of them have built up very large and memorable libraries.
In a Reddit post, a user named JDCarpenter91 showed off a picture of their amazing gaming collection, which included many old games and consoles. The Reddit user said that they call the area their “gaming corner,” and it is full of things connected to gaming.
Even though it was hard to see everything in the collection, it was clear that there was a SNES, a Sega Dreamcast, and what looked like more than one Game Boy Color, to name a few. JDCarpenter91 also had some newer pieces of technology, like the powerful Xbox Series X, along with the older ones. The Reddit user had shelves full of games for systems like the Wii, Genesis, Game Boy, and Xbox 360, in addition to the consoles.
It shouldn’t be a surprise that many old-school gamers are interested in this impressive group of games. In fact, the post has gotten more than 19,000 upvotes in less than a day. Several of the comments focused on the Socrates system that JDCarpenter had stacked on top of the right shelf in the picture.
The VTech Socrates was an interesting device from the late 1980s. It was made to play educational video games. Some people also made jokes about how many gaming-related items were on show. “You’re your own GameStop,” jokingly said one user.
Even though JDCarpenter91 has an amazing collection, he or she is not the only one who collects gaming hardware. Over the past few months, a lot of other old-school gamers have shown off their gaming-themed rooms on social media. Another example is a dad who liked to play video games and had almost all of the Game and Watch systems.
In the coming months, it will be interesting to see if JDCarpenter91’s amazing gaming corner gets bigger. Many more games that people are looking forward to coming out in 2023 mean that there are plenty of new games to add to the collection.
No matter how much the Reddit user’s gaming corner grows, it’s great to see people trying to keep old games and platforms alive. Maybe more gamers will be inspired by this collection to fill their own game rooms with things from the past.
