How to Update Java and how to prevent the update pop up

Java is very important for a computer as you can build applications for mobile using your desktop. You can also use mobile applications on your computer using Java. It may not seem important to us but it has various uses. Many of our applications run sometimes exclusively with the help of Java.

If you have java on your computer you could have come across the ‘Update java’ message. This is Java telling you that an update for the latest version of Java is available and asks you to update it. In this article, we are going to look at how to update Java.

  1. First, go to the control panel and change the view settings. Currently, it will be in the category section, but you have to change the alignment.  Change the settings to large icons.

  1. You will see the Java icon. Click on it and a small tab will open

  1. Now navigate to the update tab in it and select the update now option. The option will pop up if there is a new update available.

  1. Once you click on the update now option, java will automatically start updating itself.

How to prevent the update pop up:

Sometimes constantly coming across this java update pop up will be annoying and irritating. In case you want to stop Java to showing that notification, follow these steps:

  1. First, go to the control panel and change the view settings. Currently, it will be in the category section, but you have to change the alignment.  Change the settings to large icons.

  1. Navigate to the update tab. There you will see an option called ‘check for updates automatically’. Uncheck the box, a small pop will come. Select do not check option in it.

  1. Once you select the Do not check option, java will stop sending you notifications about the update.

Updating Java is very important for many applications on our desktop. It is highly recommended to update it and most of all please do not disable the automatic updates option. It may annoy you sometimes but if you install it immediately after the notification, you won’t get any pop up anymore.
