Taking a screenshot is a useful feature because it lets you easily share what’s on your screen or just save it on your computer for later use. There are a few different ways to take a screenshot on an Android phone, and some of them are only available on certain models.
In the same way, there are different ways to take screenshots on Samsung Galaxy phones, some of which are only available on these phones with the OneUI software. How to Take a Screenshot Using the Physical Buttons on Your Samsung Phone
OneUI is a custom skin on top of Android that runs on Samsung Galaxy phones. So, the same button combination that works on all Android phones to take a screenshot will work on a Samsung phone as well. Here’s how to take a picture with your phone’s physical buttons:
- Press the Power button + Volume down button at the same time.
- As soon as you release the buttons, a screenshot will be captured.
- Samsung Galaxy phones give you a small preview of the screenshot at the bottom of your screen along with a toolbar as soon as the screenshot is captured to either share it, edit it to add annotations, or even take a scrolling screenshot if you have a long list. You can use this toolbar to make necessary changes or ignore it to save the screenshot to your gallery as it is.

How to Take a Screenshot Using Gestures on Your Samsung Phone
Phones with stock Android don’t have as many software features as phones with Samsung’s OneUI skin. This includes some cool gestures that you can also use on your Galaxy phone to take screenshots. Here’s how it works:
- Go to Settings on your Samsung phone and scroll down till you find the Advanced Features option.
- Select it to go to the next page, in which you locate an option called Motion and Gestures. Choose that to open the list of different gestures you can use on your device.
- Next, enable the Palm swipe to capture option.
- Now you will be able to take screenshots just by swiping the edge of your palm from one end of your screen to the other.
This gesture can help you take screenshots when your phone is flat on a desk or when you don’t want to use the button combination. It also makes it easier to take multiple screenshots one after the other.

How to take a screenshot using Bixby on your Samsung phone
If your Samsung Galaxy phone is one of the few that has Bixby Voice turned on, you can use it to take a screenshot. It can be very helpful when you can’t use your hands because all you have to do is use the wake word and say, “Take a screenshot.” Here’s how it works:
- Assuming you’ve enabled Bixby Voice on your Galaxy phone, you can either long-press the Bixby button (if your phone has one) or simply say, “Hey Bixby” to activate it.
- After that, say, “take a screenshot,” and Bixby will capture the contents of your screen.
If you don’t have the Bixby Voice feature turned on your phone, you can also use Google Assistant to take screenshots. The process stays the same. To give the command, you’ll just wake up Google Assistant instead of Bixby.
